OEM & ODM
Your brand.
Our manufacturing.
The two arrangements differ in one respect that matters: who is holding the pen on construction. Everything else follows from that.
| Comparison | OEMYou own the specification | ODMWe develop it with you |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns the specification | You. You arrive with the pattern, bill of materials and construction notes. | Developed jointly. We author the pattern and construction against your brief. |
| What you send us | Tech pack, graded pattern, artwork, size chart, trim specification. | A reference garment, sketch or description of the end use, plus quantity and target. |
| Who resolves construction | You, in the tech pack. Anything unresolved becomes our assumption. | We propose, you approve at sample stage. |
| Where it usually suits | Established brands with a resolved product and an existing pattern library. | New and growing brands, and anyone developing a garment they have not made before. |
| Sampling | Fewer rounds if the tech pack is complete. | Expect more than one round. That is where the garment gets right. |
Most projects are not purely one or the other. A brand with a resolved hoodie and an unresolved jacket is running OEM on one and ODM on the other. Tell us what you actually have and we will scope each garment accordingly.
A separate question
Private label is about whose name is on it.
It gets confused with OEM and ODM, but it is a different axis entirely. You can have an OEM order that ships with blank labels, or an ODM order that ships fully branded and retail-ready.
Private label programmesWhat to send us.
You do not need all of this. Send what exists and we will tell you what is missing before quoting rather than after.
Start a ProjectIf you have a tech pack
- Flat sketches, front and back
- Points of measure with tolerances
- Fabric composition, weight and finish
- Construction and seam specification
- Trim and hardware detail
- Artwork with placement measurements
- Size range and grade rule
If you do not
- A reference garment, or clear photographs of one
- What to keep and what to change about it
- The end use: where and how it will be worn
- Quantity, colourways and size split
- Your branding artwork, or a note that it is coming
